Making of: The sc-X7000

Our homage to Tom Wong and Coxsone Dodd and all those who built physical structures, that begat obelisks, that brought sound to the streets and eschewed gatekeeping venues to bring music to the people.

Note: This is not an operational sound system…yet.

Ideation

During the time we were creating the collection (March - June 2020), it felt like we were living through a paradigm shift in history. It’s almost impossible to not have some of these thoughts leak through into work you are making.

Thus the idea for the “Footprint” speaker was born. This design is meant to signify that music is not merely just entertainment, but legacy.

Below: Specs for Christopher at Hook Fabrication to create a life-sized model of the sc-X7000 speaker.

(Thanks Chris for doing it on short notice!)
