Case Study 002
Art Direction - Design - Illustration
After having a major setback, agency IAMSOUND reached out to me to turnaround, in 48 hours, the entire range of tour backdrops for Vampire Weekend to meet the extremely tight deadline for their upcoming tour schedule.
Ay, we international now!
Indie rock vanguards Vampire Weekend are returning from hiatus to play a limited set of shows on very short notice. Rumors are they have a secret new album on the way…
Right : “Father of the Bride” is later revealed to be their new double album that they will preview songs from on this impromptu tour.
For their stage design, VW needs lightweight backdrops that can be easily set up, taken down and transported for this run of shows spanning multiple continents from the US to Japan.
The directive is to create hand-drawn graffiti messages that reflect Ezra Koenig and Vampire Weekend’s mission to spread climate change awareness, promoting human connection and protecting the environment from big business interests.

The unique challenge is to create an overall cohesive piece that will make sense, while composing said piece with art that should have the appearance they are made by several independent parties, like an actual graffiti’d wall.
48 Hours Later …
